Passion, Attitude, Responsibility scholarship

LFA's Passion, Attitude, Responsibility (PAR) Motivations program promotes individual growth by encouraging students to pursue their PASSION, possess the right ATTITUDE, and take RESPONSIBILITY for their actions. This scholarship is for high school students who are getting started in aviation and want to further develop their passion for flying.

REQUIREMENTS

  1. Age 15-18 years old as of June 1, 2021.

  2. Submit a complete application by 11:59 pm (EST), May 15, 2021. Supporting documentation must be uploaded as one single PDF. 

  3. Proof of enrollment in, or acceptance to a flight training program.

  4. Copy of last page of logbook (for applicants with flight experience).

  5. Essay of not more than 450 words explaining the applicant’s motivation for starting their aviation journey, and how this scholarship will assist the applicant in achieving their career or educational goals.

  6. One letter of recommendation written by a teacher, supervisor, counselor, or director of an organization with whom the applicant participates in or volunteers with.

  7. Unofficial transcripts are required for high school, college, or university student applicants. Cumulative GPA must be at least 2.5 to apply.

  8. Be able to begin flight training within 90 days of receiving the award.

  9. Be able to use 100% of awarded scholarship funds within one (1) year of award.

STATEMENT OF UNDERSTANDING

  1. Applicants 18 years of age and older: By signing my legal name in the field below and submitting it to LFA, I certify that I am 18 years of age or older and that all information contained in this application is correct to the best of my knowledge at the time of submission.

  2.  Applicants under 18 years of age: Signature of a parent or legal guardian is required to attest to the above and confirm that the applicant has permission to participate in flight training. 

  3. Finalist will be expected to conduct an interview in person or virtually.

  4. Flight training must begin within 90 days of receiving the award.  The scholarship is only valid for one year following award. 

  5.  If selected, the scholarship recipient consents to having their name, photograph, and program information released on LFA media channels.

  6.  Should information change that would potentially disqualify the student from scholarship eligibility they will immediately notify LFA via email at info@legacyflightacademy.org and immediately inform their LFA mentor.

LEGAL GUARDIAN AGREEMENT

  1. I am responsible for my child’s travel arrangements to and from their flight training program. 

  2. I hereby give my permission to LFA to photograph, film, videotape, and/or make sound recordings of my child, to quote or publish statements of my child, and to use such photographs, films, videotapes, sound recordings, and/or other statements for educational and promotional/advertising materials and for other purposes specified below. I understand that my child may be identified in any photographs, news stories, or publications LFA considers appropriate for release to magazines, newspapers, the worldwide websites of its sub-organizations, and/or other publications. I further understand that any such photographs, films, videotapes, sound recordings, and/or written works are the property of LFA and that neither my child nor I am entitled to any compensation for or rights in these materials.

  3. I release the LFA from all liability with respect to the matters covered by this agreement.
