The Double Victory Flight ProgramLive The Legacy The Double Victory Flight Program continues the legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen through a unique character development and aviation experience. Each student is provided with ground and flight training to reach the goal of a “solo” flight by the end of the program. Activities also include simulator training, STEM-based academic enrichment, leadership courses, aerial and static aircraft exhibitions, motivational guest speakers and much more. Conducted at historic Moton Field in Tuskegee, Alabama -- the original primary flight training locations of the Tuskegee Airmen -- our students literally walk in the footsteps of the original Tuskegee Airmen, demonstratively growing the legacy of the heroic Tuskegee Airmen. On 19 July 1941, the first class of “Tuskegee Airmen” began pre-flight training at Moton Field near Tuskegee, Alabama. Over seventy-five years later, Legacy Flight Academy character development and flight training program will begin at this very same location to provide an opportunity for up to 20 youth to continue this LEGACY as the next generation of Tuskegee Airmen. Now branded as the “Double Victory Flight Program,” it is a unique, two-week aviation experience for students age 16-19 who have already demonstrated a sincere interest in aviation. DVFP seeks to inspire minority youth towards a career in aviation and presents military service opportunities, following in the legacy of the pioneering Tuskegee Airmen. DVFP2016 builds on the foundation of our inaugural LFA2012and builds on our highly successful LFA2015 programs. We continue to improve our effort to provide selected youth with a life-changing character development and aviation experience. A few highlights planned for DVFP2020 include: Character development through an intense study of the Tuskegee Airmen experience and practical leadership/teamwork activities. Flight training consisting of approximately 15 total simulator and actual single-engine flight time, including the opportunity to “solo” an aircraft; ground training will build towards competition of the FAA private pilot written examination. College and career education will focus on interaction with a variety of aerospace professionals (commercial/military/corporate pilots, mechanics, engineers, air traffic control, etc.) and will include multiple field trips to local military bases and commercial aviation training centers Academic enrichment focused on science, engineering, technology, and mathematics (STEM) is also a part of the LFA experience through a partnership with the engineering departments at both Tuskegee and Auburn Universities All contributions to LFA's program are tax-deductible; just click here to donate!
