1-DAY OUTREACH / VARIOUS LOCATIONS NATIONWIDE / AGES 10-19
Eyes Above the Horizon is a single day outreach program that aims to develop and foster an interest in aerospace careers through flight introductions, mentorship, and immersion into the rich history and legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen. Students are inspired to see beyond their familiar circumstances and find the motivation to excel in their academic and career endeavors. The program features the robust participation of aviation professionals, educators, and support from numerous partners. To better reach youth from under-represented groups, this unique and impactful program is free to all participants.
Flight Introduction and Aviation STEM
Participants will not only experience an orientation flight in a single-engine airplane, but they will take the controls as a pilot! Participants will also receive academic instruction in basic aviation principles and explore the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines involved in aerospace careers.
LFA recognizes the importance of guiding the next generation towards the path of excellence and the Eyes Above the Horizon program is our effort to show youth what they can achieve. We have gathered professionals from the across aerospace career fields to share their unique journey to success and will have a motivational speaker to further encourage and challenge student participants.
Tuskegee Airman Legacy
Participants will be inspired as they learn about the challenges and triumphs of the Tuskegee Airmen. The character traits that made the Tuskegee Airmen successful will be instilled in all participants via team-building and character development exercises.
